How it all began

The Sarah Group can trace its history back to 1940 when Harry Sarah was working for Hansen Yuncken in Melbourne .  The company won the contract to build the Westpac Bank building on the corner of North Terrace and King William Streets in Adelaide and Harry was sent to here to supervise the construction. 

Hansen Yuncken decided to establish a presence in South Australia and asked Harry to manage its SA operation, which he did until 1960, when he decided he would go into business in his own right.  He established HF Sarah and Sons in 1961.  Harry set the business on course to grow and develop and the table below lists some of the key events in the history of the Sarah Group.

Harry's son's Don and Neil helped to manage the business and create the success we enjoy today.  Harry retired in the early 1970's and left the company in the hands of his sons.  Don and Neil saw the company expand and grow with the launch of Sarah Homes , Hindmarsh Mechanical & Electrical Services, Architectural Hardware Suppliers and Precast Concrete Products.

Don and Neil retired in the early 1990's.  The company is currently managed by the third generation of the Sarah family; cousins Tim and James Sarah are the joint Managing Directors.

The Sarah Group employs over 300 people and enjoys a strong reputation for excellence in service and product quality.

The Sarah group is the holding company for five companies, Sarah Constructions, Hindmarsh Plumbing Services, Architectural Hardware and Doors and Longridge Sarah Homes .

Hindmarsh Plumbing Services is a South Australian company that has operated continuously since 1973, and provides installation, commission and servicing of all aspects of plumbing, gasfitting and allied services for the Commercial and Industrial construction sector.

Our Service Division provides emergency and routine preventative maintenance plumbing services to end users of our construction projects, and to a wide range of business related customers.

We are a part of the Sarah Group of companies and our head office is at 27 South Road Hindmarsh 5007. This is close to the CBD and centrally located for the industrial districts of Adelaide .

Architectural Hardware & Doors provides a comprehensive range of the finest domestic and commercial door hardware and washroom equipment, supplying such major brand names as Lockwood, Dorma, Dalco, Kaba and Ingersoll-Rand. Architectural Hardware & Doors is a well established company that is highly regarded in it's field. The Architectural Hardware & Doors showroom is conveniently located only a few minutes from the city at 259 Port Rd , Hindmarsh. AHD is a leading supplier of doors, door hardware and associated services to the commercial building industry.
